教学设计思想
内容：Reading and vocabulary & Function
课标分析：高中英语新课程标准中指出，教学应根据学生认知能力发展的特点，在进一步发展学生综合语言运用能力的基础上，着重提高学生用英语获取信息，处理信息，分析问题和解决问题的能力，特别注重提高学生用英语进行思维和表达的能力。
教材分析：Module 5 遵循了让学生从实际的生活和学习中感知并运用英语的原则，以a lesson in a lab 为媒介介绍了实验室内常见的仪器设备以及物质，并以实验报告的形式向学生展示的实验的操作表达以及实验报告的撰写方式。
学情分析：高一学生对于科学有极强的兴趣，动手和探索能力极强；而且已经具有相当的化学知识以及化学实验的操控能力。但是欠缺怎样用英语表达这些已有的知识以及怎样用英语描述实验过程并最终用英语写出实验报告的能力。
基于以上分析，本课力求体现学科交叉优势，拓宽学生信息获取渠道。在复习的基础上，本课以化学知识小测验的方式激活学生已有的与课堂实验内容相关的知识以培养学生进一步获取信息的兴趣。然后以阅读材料为媒介提供给学生相应的信息并引导学生进行加工和处理，促进学生明白科学态度的重要性以及英语实验报告的结构和写法。当学生在教师的帮助下清晰地明白实验的英语组织用语以及实验报告的撰写方式后，要求学生应用所学知识用英语对相应的实验进行口头描述以及书面报告。
